WOMEN EMPOWERMENT COOKING GAS IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR MOTHER 1938-2014.

Mothers do it all — raising and educating their children, farming and feeding their families, providing wisdom and guidance to their communities — often sacrificing their own well-being to care for others out of love.

The Patrick MUthuri Foundation (PMF) is rolling out a Community LPG enhancement project dubbed Women Empowerment (WE) gas Project, In honour and loving memory of the late Mama Muthuri.

Under this project, 6Kg complete cylinders (gas, burner & grill), trading under the brand name “WE gas ”, will being distributed at a discounted price of Kshs 1500 to households which would otherwise not afford ,besides the discounted program.

The objectives of this project include:

      1. Reduce respiratory diseases and mortality rates associated with household air pollution as a result of sustained use of firewood and charcoal
      2. Uplift the quality of life for the majority of Abothuguchi women by making clean cooking fuel (LPG) readily available.
      3. Reduce deforestation as beneficiaries move away from the use of biomass (charcoal & firewood).
      4. Promote entrepreneurship in the community by giving priority to Women, Youth and People living with disability to be a major part of the supply chain as brand ambassadors.
      5. Enhance LPG penetration from approximately 1% currently to 10% within the next 3 years.

One Cylinder will be issued per eligible household.

Registration is online on PMF website and manually at the assistant chief’s offices. Women shall present themselves with their National I.Ds to the chiefs for registration. After registration at the Chiefs, and online the beneficiaries shall then avail themselves with their I.D and their registration forms at the distribution centre for collection of the cylinder upon payment of a registration fee of Ksh. 100 and a fee of Ksh.1,500. PMF will raise  another Ksh 1500 top-up to buy the Cylinder which cost  Ksh3000 ($ 30).

      SUBSEQUENT REFILLS

Once the cylinder has been depleted of gas by the user, refills are available within their locality at a cost of Kshs. 750 per cylinder.

PMF will also continue my Mom’s Legacy by Giving Orphans hope and paying attention to everything she taught us by caring for orphans and widows in her honour.

It’s not too late to give your mom a gift that will make her proud every day.
